| Mesa is a city in the state of Arizona with a population of more than 450,000 ranking it thirty-eighth in the largest United States cities. Although settled for thousands of years the city was not established until the late 1800s. The climate is warm with winter lows around 41 and summer high temperatures in the mid 100s. Precipitation is less than an inch of rain per month. Area attractions include the Mesa Grande Ruins, Arizona Museum for Youth, the Mesa Historical Museum, Mesa Amphitheatre, and Golfland Sunsplash waterpark. Sky Harbor International Airport is the major airport in the area. Higher education institutions include Maricopa Community College, Mesa Technical College, and Arizona State University's Polytechnic campus.
